You make the call, Friday morning GM
So who will be this year’s Michael Redd, the one so many teams passed on until he was finally taken in the second round, 43rd overall, of the 2000 NBA Draft, when the Jazz instead went with DeShawn Stevenson at No. 23 in the first round?
Who will be 2008′s Carlos Boozer, another who slipped into the second round of his draft?
Who will be Tony Parker, the point guard the Jazz could have drafted, but did not, when they went instead with Raul Lopez?
Here are a few candidates ‘ prospects Utah considered with its No. 23 overall selection in Thursday night’s draft, but passed over to instead take 7-foot Ohio State center Kostas Koufos:
‘Serge Ibaka, an 18-year-old forward from Congo who plays in Spain and went 24th to Seattle;
‘Darrell Arthur, a forward from Kansas whose supposed kidney issues dropped him from possible lottery pick to No. 27, and who was part of multiple trades before finally landing in Memphis;
‘D.J. White, a power forward from Indiana taken late in the first by Detroit for Seattle;
‘DeAndre Jordan, a 7-foot project from Texas A&M and one-time lottery project who wound up going 35th to the Los Angeles Clippers; and
‘Chris Douglas-Roberts, a shooting guard from the University of Memphis who some day might be considered a steal at No. 40 to New Jersey.
So there you go, second-guessers, Friday morning general managers. Who will it be?
One of those five? None of the above? None at all? Or do you have your own?
You make the call, and have a field day.
