Williams and Malone (and ???) about to speak out
Just when I thought Thursday was going to be a slow news day and I might actually have to dig around for something to write about (or not), my e-mail inbox began to get loaded up with invitations to press conferences for some big names from the Jazz organization.
Deron Williams will chat about his gold-medal Chinese adventures at 3 p.m., followed by a Karl Malone press conference at his relocated dealership in Draper.
At this rate, John Stockton should be announcing a press conference at 9 a.m. (cause he loves talking with the media SO much), followed by a Carlos Boozer media session at 11 a.m. After Boozer’s brief China report (OK, that was a cheap shot), we might even have time for a Kyle Korver Utah Open conference.
I’d say Larry H. Miller could throw in another presser, but we only have 3-4 hours in the mid-afternoon open now. Sorry. Maybe Friday.
FYI, Karl Malone’s open-to-the-public grand opening festivities for his Toyota SuperStore (11453 S. Lone Peak Parkway) in Draper begin at 6 p.m. If you’re not in the market for a new car, you can check out what the press release claims is “the largest collection of Karl Malone basketball memorabilia in the world on display” at the dealership.
Just before that, the Mailman will chat with media members (hopefully not based on credit approval or trade-in value). It should be interesting to find out what Malone’s been up to, and I’m really hoping he’ll include the phrase: “What do I have to do to get you to leave here with a good story today?”
Lastly, I just have two questions:
1. What questions do you think we should ask Williams and Malone (and whoever else from the Jazz organization that decides to throw a press conference)?
2. What type of monthly payment are you looking for?
