Does Miles matching make more sense now?

BOISE ‘ Now it is known.
Now what the Jazz knew in July, when they made their somewhat-debated decision to match Oklahoma City’s four-year, $15 million offer to reserve swingman C.J. Miles ‘ but the general public did not ‘ is known.
That is this: Backup small forward Matt Harpring was hospitalized during the summer with a strep infection stemming from the offseason surgery he had to repair an ailing ankle, one serious enough to set back his rehab and conditioning work so much that he is not with the team for this week’s opening of training camp in Boise.
Harpring wasn’t here today, and he won’t be when camp breaks Friday either.
The oft-ailing veteran instead is working with private trainers in California, hoping to improve his conditioning so that he’s 100 percent healthy for the start of the regular season.
Only time will tell whether or not he is.
If he’s not, the versatile but sporadically used Miles ‘ who at any time can be plugged in at either small forward or shooting guard ‘ may assume some of Harpring’s minutes behind starter Andrei Kirilenko.
That’s one factor, previously unknown by many, the Jazz had to consider when contemplating whether or not to match the offer sheet Miles signed with Oklahoma City.
With that tidbit of knowledge now in hand, does the matching make more sense to naysayers?
You make the call.
