Shooting showdown: Korver vs. Brewer
Quick question: Who is a better shooter, Ronnie Brewer or Kyle Korver?
While working on a story for tomorrow’s paper about the abundance of 2-guards on the Jazz’s roster, I was reminded of a statistical comparison from last season about these two players that still surprises me.
Brewer might have somewhat of a funky-looking jumper, but he hit 55.8 percent of his field goals in 2007-08.
Korver, whose shot is as smooth-looking as anybody this side of Ray Allen, only shot 44.3 percent.
Korver did shoot better than Brewer from beyond the 3-point line, but he was only accurate 29.6 percent of the time on his specialty shot. Brewer, who did much of his scoring damage inside, sank just 11 of 50 treys (22 percent).
Both players’ shots reportedly have been falling in camp — and they both looked very comfortable and accurate shooting in Saturday’s scrimmage.
Having both of them shooting better is certainly a best-case scenario for the Jazz regardless of whom is declared the better shooter.
But admit, that question isn’t as easy to answer as you thought it would be, is it?
