Who should get Harpring's minutes?
ANAHEIM, Calif. ‘ Matt Harpring made the trip here. But he won’t play in Tuesday night’s preseason opener for the Jazz against the Los Angeles Lakers.
In fact, because of his surgically repaired right ankle and subsequent infection in the joint, it’s uncertain when Harpring ‘ Utah’s veteran backup small forward ‘ will be back.
That in mind, Jazz coach Jerry Sloan was asked Monday who might absorb Harpring’s minutes. He said he had three or four candidates.
Here are some possibilities:
‘More playing time for starting small forward Andrei Kirilenko;
‘More minutes for swingman Ronnie Brewer, the Jazz’s starting shooting guard;
‘Give the time to reserve swingman C.J. Miles;
‘Extra time at small forward for usual backup power forward Paul Millsap, when matchups allow.
So who should get the minutes, especially if Harpring isn’t ready to go when the regular season gets under way later this month?
You make the call.
