Williams: two weeks vs. four
The Jazz now say point guard Deron Williams will be out at least two weeks because of the sprained left ankle he sustained in Saturday night’s preseason game at Chicago.
That means he’s likely to miss the team’s Oct. 29 regular-season opener vs. Denver, plus possibly one or two more games ‘ including a pair against the Elton Brand-less Los Angeles Clippers, who have an injured point guard of their own in Baron Davis.
Bearable?
Not exactly the end of the world?
If the worst the Jazz have to endure because of the injury heard around one Windy City and an entire Beehive State is an 0-3 start to an 82-game NBA season, it can be argued that there are more-challenging things in life.
The Jazz also say Williams has a second-degree sprain.
Medical literature suggests such an injury, which involves a partial ligament tear but no complete blowout, typically means 1-to-4 weeks of lost time.
If Williams were out four weeks from today, he would miss 11 or so regular-season games ‘ including all five outings in a five-game Eastern road swing.
How much less bearable is that?
Just how doomed would the Jazz’s orb be?
You make the call.
