Best way to honor No. 1,000?

Jerry Sloan was asked if — should Utah beat Oklahoma City on Friday night, giving Sloan his 1,000th win in season No. 21 as head coach of the Jazz — there is a ceremony, or anything of the sort, planned for afterward.
The immediate response:
“I hope not,” he said.
“If you want to send (general manager Kevin O’Connor) that message,” Sloan jokingly added, “that’s okay with me. I don’t have any problem with that.”
When push comes to shove, as it inevitably will, Sloan will play along, however franchise officials decide to honor him.
But he really does despise such praise for milestones and accomplishments, as everyone from management to media members to point guards is well aware.
“If we got him a cake or something,” Deron Williams said today, “he’d be mad.”
So does that mean Jazz players will present Sloan with, oh, a big ol’ cake?
“We might do that,” Williams joked.
But seriously …
What is the best way to recognize the rather remarkable feat, especially if it happens Friday at home?
Simple handshakes all around, as Sloan, deep down, would prefer? Fireworks and a videoboard montage followed by chocolate layer delight, with white icing all around and a big “1,000?” scrolled in red? Or perhaps start work on that statue that seems bound to eventually stand alongside those of John Stockton, Karl Malone and — who knows? — maybe some day even Williams as well?
Feel free to chant: You make the call …
