A "wonderful" T, Four-Letter Words! and Dude, Where's My Favorite Kyle Korver Flicks List?

Andre Miller went bonkers in the fourth quarter after a technical foul was called. By the way he reacted, it seemed like one of Utah’s former favorite point guard sons was the one being slapped with the T. Or maybe that somebody had just accused him of being a BYU Cougar.

Turns out, Reggie Evans was the one who got T’d up for picking and pounding on an old teammate, Kyle Korver.

After Korver sank the freebie and thanked Evans for that stat padder, the two former Philly teammates high-fived and made up while laughing about it.

The 6-7, 210-pound Korver, who played with Evans when he used to be 76er, even said the 6-8, 245-pound beefy dude has “fouled me much harder than that during practice.”

Korver said the ref didn’t see that they were – HAHAHA – just palling around.

Evans – and Miller – had some words for the officials after the call was made. According to Evans, though, the only four-letter words were good and call. He even – GASP!!!!! – strung them together. Parents don’t let your children read what Evans told reporters he told the ref:

“Good call.”

Continued the certainly sincere and almost-angelic Evans: “At the end of the day, he made a great call, a wonderful call. That’s all that matters.”

(OK, parents, you can take your hands off of your children’s eyes now.)

As I just typed that and reviewed my notes, somehow in the story for Tuesday’s paper I incorrectly wrote that Reggie Evans received a Flagrant-1 penalty. (I’m sure he’s gonna spit out a bagel or some Marshmallow Maties when he reads that.)

There was an F-1 foul Monday, but it was called on Marreese Speights, who tackled Utah tight end Kyrylo Fesenko on the 2-yard line with 31.4 seconds remaining in the football game.

What’s that? It wasn’t a football game? Explains why Speights got that flagrant foul then.

Not sure what my explanation for wrongly giving it to Evans is. I can think of two four-letter words as part of my reaction, though – and they aren’t “good call.” Well, except for the ref who called that on Speights (NOT EVANS!!!!).

For those of you who don’t think they made ‘em as tough and durable as they used to back in the John Stockton and Karl Malone days, consider this stat: Monday’s game was Andre Miller’s 478th consecutive game played in a row – and that’s not even counting NBA video games on the X-box.

His active streak is tops in the NBA right now, by the way.

Fans really enjoyed how Jazz players played keep-away from Philly and from the hoop at the end of the third quarter. The wild one-minute-long possession included three Jazz rebounds, two missed shots (one by Andrei Kirilenko, another by Kosta Koufos) and an exclamation dunk that came after an entertaining (and informative) “Stop, Drop and Roll” display by Kirilenko.

After falling to the floor and scrambling for the ball, Kirilenko dished it off and eventually got it back in time to put out the fire and finish with a big slam.

The crowd erupted – or began to try out AK’s “Stop, Drop and Roll” form – as a result of the wild possession.

Coincidentally, Monday’s Jazz game against the Philadelphia 76ers was Kyle Korver’s one-year anniversary for getting swapped by those two teams.

In honor of that, I’d like to give a little tribute by sharing “My 5 Favorite Kyle Korver Movies.” They are (drum roll, please)….

5. “What Happens in Vegas.” (OK, I haven’t seen it, but my wife has so that counts.)
4. “Just Married.” (OK, I can’t actually remember anything from this movie except for a castle in Germany. Or was it Switzerland? I’ll have to ask at practice tomorrow. But I did see it, along with my wife, so that counts.)
3. “Cheaper by the Dozen.” (I’m pretty sure I’ve at least seen bits and pieces on TBS.)
2. “Open Season.” (I can’t remember if he was the moose or the bear, but it was actually a fun cartoon that I really did see.)
1. “Dude, Where’s My Car?” (Dude, this is absolutely my favorite movie title, like, EVER! I can neither confirm nor deny seeing this flick, either, but it’s Numero Uno on principle alone.)
