Korver's club lost, so Brewer's cool
When we last left Jody Genessy’s Jazz blog, Deron Williams was decked out in Pittsburgh Steelers gear and Kyle Korver was mothballing his New York Giants garb.
It was Monday, and postseason fortunes were apparent.
Today, Ronnie Brewer wore only his NBA practice outfit. He wouldn’t venture a prediction on next weekend’s NFL playoffs, never mind wear his favorite team’s jersey. He wouldn’t even, in fact, acknowledge that postseason pigskin play is under way.
Why not?
‘I’m not watching football right now,” the Arkansas native said. ‘The Cowboys are out.”
Pressed further by a radio reporter for a Super Bowl prediction, Brewer wasn’t about to bite.
Or ‘ technical talk ‘ give a byte.
‘No prediction at all,” Brewer said. ‘Don’t care. I’m looking forward to the Pro Bowl.”
‘Pro Bowl?” one unbelieving print/Internet reporter asked.
‘Pro Bowl?” parroted another who frankly feels we all got along just fine sans cyberspace.
‘He’s the one,” deadpanned a third who files way more blog entries than the one just above.
Even Brewer had to laugh.
‘It’s a joke,” he said.
‘Romo and T.O.’s not playing in it,” Brewer added as his court cackled, ‘so I’m definitely not watching that game.”
Finally, Brewer fessed up. He did at least know what happened in the NFL last weekend.
‘I wanted the Giants to lose,” he said. ‘As long as they lost, I’m cool.”
