The next meeting in Utah
DALLAS ‘ Four meetings ago, NBA All-Star Dirk Nowitzki was suspended one game for his hard takedown of Jazz forward Andrei Kirilenko.
Two meetings ago, he wound up suspended one game for closed backhand to the face of Jazz forward Matt Harpring.
Both games were played at EnergySolutions Arena.
Nowitzki ‘ who scored a game-high 39 points when his Mavericks beat the Jazz on Saturday night in Dallas, a game from which he’ll escape suspension-free ‘ suggested beforehand to the Dallas Morning News that he does not think that’s a coincidence.
‘It’s usually never been here, because they don’t let them get away with that much,” he said to the newspaper with reference to referees and the Jazz’s penchant for physical play. ‘It’s really just in Utah where they get away with a lot.
‘I’ve never had a problem here in Dallas.”
Next Jazz-Mavs meeting in Utah, for the record, comes Feb. 5. It’s a Thursday night, and the game is scheduled to be cable-televised nationally on TNT.
