Iavaroni gets change in Memphis

While Kenny Natt continues to toil in Sacramento following the December firing of Reggie Theus, another former Jazz player turned coach is out of work for now.
And he seems to accept why.
According to The Commercial Appeal, ex-Jazz forward and recently fired Memphis Grizzlies head coach Marc Iavaroni ‘has no regrets, and he wasn’t shocked by his dismissal last Thursday.”
‘When you’re losing games in a row, you’re aware of (job security),’ Iavaroni, the seventh NBA coach fired this season alone, told the newspaper. ‘But it wasn’t affecting my preparation. My final meeting (with the organization) was very cordial. We agreed on many things. It was the best thing for the guys and the team.’
The Jazz won six straight games over the Grizzlies during Iavaroni’s season-and-a-half on the job in Memphis.
‘This is not going to be something I’ll look back on negatively,’ Iavaroni said, according to the Commercial Appeal. ‘It was the right time for me.
‘I thought this was the place to go because it was the place for growth,” he added. ‘I’m very fortunate. A lot of guys don’t get an opportunity. I was treated fairly from Day One by (Grizzlies owner Michael) Heisley. I thought the press was fair to me. I have no regrets. The players really tried to win every night.’
But, suffice it to say, they did not.
