Williams' bad ear and Korver's bad eye

PORTLAND ‘ A couple lingering items following the Jazz’s win over Oklahoma City on Friday night and before their game against Portland tonight:

When the Thunder cut what had been a 24-point Utah lead in the third quarter to 15 in the fourth, Jazz coach Jerry Sloan was forced to reinsert three starters ‘ including point guard Deron Williams.
Ideally, Sloan would have preferred to save them for tonight’s second game of a back-to-back set.
Williams wouldn’t have minded the rest, either.
‘I tried to act like I didn’t hear Coach when he said my name,” Williams joked afterward.
When pressed, though, Williams suggested he didn’t think logging the extra few minutes Friday would have any negative impact tonight.

The Jazz had 32 assists against the Thunder, three off their season high.
It might have been 33 had not a bullet Kyle Korver pass intended for Matt Harpring instead slammed off the face of teammate Kyrylo Fesenko.
Fesenko had no idea Korver was trying to get the ball to Harpring, but both instantly laughed about the blunder, as did several on the Jazz bench.
Said Korver, still chuckling after the game: ‘I got the ball and saw Matt in the corner of my eye ‘ and didn’t see Fes. ‘ Fes got in the way.”
