Horsing around

MINNEAPOLIS – When Ronnie Brewer hit a 3-pointer from just a step over halfcourt prior to halftime of Monday night’s victory over Atlanta, it wasn’t by accident.
After shootaround this morning in advance of tonight’s game against Minnesota here, starting small forward C.J. Miles was jacking up shots from halfcourt of his own.
Brewer often does the same, and hits his perhaps more than anyone on the team – making him a frequent winner of post-practice HORSE games.
Jazz coach Jerry Sloan doesn’t seem like the type who would put up with such shenanigans, but the truth is he doesn’t really mind.
Especially when the fooling around pays off like it did against the Hawks.
Not everyone, though, takes part in the fun-and-games. Miles and shooting guard Brewer are among those who do, and Sloan knows why.
“They’re younger,” he said. “When they’re older they’ll be over there (on the sideline) sitting on their (three-letter word for rear end), trying to get their breath.”
