Concern, gas and the Lakers

Some leftover notes and quotes following the Jazz’s loss to Golden State on Saturday night and before they play host to the Los Angeles Clippers on Monday night …

Sloan was asked after loss how concerned he was with a week to go before the NBA playoffs start, and his club having lost six of its last seven games.
“I’m always concerned,” he said. “I’m concerned about my job every single day I go to work, because you don’t know what tomorrow’s gonna bring, or what today’s gonna bring. I’ve been fortunate. But I also know how fast it changes, and players do things that make it difficult for you.”
Interpret as one may, but understand it’s something – in so many words – Sloan has said numerous times over the years.

Sloan also was asked his thought his team, with now two games left in its regular season, was running out of gas.
“I would hope they aren’t,” he said. “How many of them are 35? I don’t know. Any of them 35?”
Told backup point guard Brevin Knight is 33, Sloan responded, “Well, if he was playing 40 minutes, I’d be worried. I don’t have anybody playing that many minutes. Tough minutes. You know, (starting point) Deron (Williams) probably plays just a few more, but he’s young. … But I really didn’t see that.”

Power forward Carlos Boozer recently had this to say about the prospect of finishing eighth in the Western Conference and facing the Los Angeles Lakers:
“I’m more concerned about how we play. You know, it’s not about who we face. It’s about us. You know, if we do a good job of doing our stuff, believing in each other, running our offense, running our defense, believing in one another, it doesn’t matter who we play. But we’ve got to get back to it.”
