Jon, no Kate or eight; Levi, no Bristol; Chris Paul and Shrek, no Deron; candied cashews, Scott Layden and Stephon Marbury, no kidding
NEW YORK – After staying in the past near Central Park for games like tonight’s against the Knicks, the Jazz’s home for its New York trip this season is a Times Square locale.
Had they wandered out into the heart of tourist territory Sunday night, here is some of what those with the Utah crew might have experienced:
Seeing Jon Gosselin and Levi Johnston serving live on set as guest panelists for an airing of the TV show “The Insider,” the “Entertainment Tonight” spinoff whose usual home is in Hollywood.
Jon, of course, is Kate’s ex. None of the eight were hanging on set, however. Levi is the kid famous for fathering Sarah Palin’s granddaughter. No sign of ex Bristol or son Tripp, either.
Host Lara Spencer (PBS fans surely know her from Antiques Roadshow) was there, though, and so was Star Jones.
In case you were wondering.
Deron Williams could have looked up to a giant TNT billboard featuring Chris Paul, hovering somewhere under one for Shrek The Musical and above ones for Jersey Boys, Hair, Wicked and Phantom.
In case you were wondering.
If they waded past the hawkers selling the fake Rolexes (why buy one of those when you can afford the real deal?) and imitation Louis Vuitton handbags and found the right street cart, they could have enjoyed some especially tasty candied cashews. One bag for $2, three bags for five bucks. What a deal.
In case you were wondering.

And finally …
Had to chuckle at New York Daily News beat writer Frank Isola’s Knicks Knation blog take on beneficiaries of the Stephon Marbury-to-Phoenix trade that eventually landed the Knicks’ 2010 first-round draft choice in the hands of the Jazz.
Last on his list was current Jazz assistant coach Scott Layden.
“The former Knicks GM was replaced by Isiah (Thomas, who made the Marbury trade),” Isola wrote. “Layden was working on a Marbury deal in the weeks before he was canned. Isiah swooped in and sweetened the deal for Phoenix with a couple of first round picks, one of which eventually was traded to Utah where Layden now works.
“Come to think of it, maybe Layden was working as a double agent the entire time. Brilliant.”
