Howard and hard fouls
ORLANDO — The Jazz aren’t known for being particularly hard foulers these days.
But it might be worth keeping an eye on just how far, or not, they go tonight with Orlando center Dwight Howard when Utah visits the Magic.
Magic coach Stan Van Gundy, after all, said just recently that he thinks teams are getting carried away with how hard Howard.
“It’s out of hand what they’re letting people do to Dwight,” Van Gundy told Orlando reporters.
“And if you’re going to let people continue to hit him around the head and grab him around the neck, look, I don’t care, those are flagrant fouls, they need to be called,” he added. “I don’t care who you are, you’re only going to take that for so long. It’s absurd what’s going on.”
And he if he does happen to get fouled hard by Jazz big man Carlos Boozer — unlikely, but in theory possible — it might be worth keeping an eye on whether or not Boozer gets a return invite to Howard’s house.
On Saturday in Charlotte, Boozer said he planned to spend Sunday — an off day for the Jazz in Orlando — visiting with Howard, his teammate on Team USA’s gold medal-winning 2008 Olympic team.
