Deron didn't watch, Brewer hit a shot and Birdman ate well

A few fun moments before the Jazz’s win over the Denver Nuggets on Saturday night …

From the morning shootaround:
Radio reporter, questioning point guard Deron Williams: “Deron, another big one for this team and another opportunity to get closer in the standings with Denver. But what did you see from last night’s game (the Nuggets’ ESPN-televised road win Friday over the Los Angeles Lakers) when you had a chance to watch it.”
Williams: “I didn’t watch, so … I didn’t see much.”

Backup point guard Ronnie Price is one of the Jazz’s resident trick-shot artists.
But starting shooting guard Ronnie Brewer hit the dandy of Saturday’s shootaround, a lengthy heave from, get this, the player tunnel entrance at EnergySolutions Arena — picture the area to the side of and well behind the Jazz’s bench area, and well behind the backboard too, by the way.
Oohs and aahs could be heard after Brewer’s shot fell, but swingman C.J. Miles had the best explanation for it, saying Brewer was able to make the shot only because of an awkward delivery that — because of a childhood accident that left his arm broke — has his elbow flapping out far from his side.

And finally …
Much was made of the fact Denver’s lanky big man, Chris “Birdman” Andersen, enjoyed a pre-game meal in the Jazz/Hot Rod Hundley pressroom before Saturday’s game.
Two trips through the serving line, in fact, which featured, ironically enough, carved turkey.
Go figure.
Andersen supposedly signed in at the dining room entrance with his initials — B.M., why of course.
What else would Birdman’s initials be?
Jerry Sloan, eating in the same room when Birdman landed, gave the colorful Nugget some friendly flak, making sure the skinny Andersen got enough to eat. Apparently he did, seeing how he went 5-for-7 from the field with four rebounds and a couple blocks in 21 minutes. Anderson, according to some in the room, assured Sloan he was plenty full, then joked about the Jazz coach picking up the tab.
Apparent price of the meal: A Denver loss, the Nuggets’ first of the season in four games against the Jazz.
