Jazz trade talk II (with a quick update)

DALLAS — Finally, (back awake) some mention of the Jazz on the NBA trade rumor mill at NBA All-Star Weekend here in Dallas.
It’s quite a crumb, but …
While there are reports about Cleveland talking with Phoenix about a possible trade that would send All-Star Amare Stoudemire to the Cavaliers for Zydrunas Ilgauskas and J.J. Hickson, with ESPN.com still reporting that the two teams are “closing in on a deal” even though the Cavs remain “in talks with several other teams,” including Washington (about Antawn Jamison) and Golden State (with the Warriors pushing Corey Magette for Ilgauskas), there is this from plugged-in Cavaliers beat writer Brian Windhorst of The Plain Dealer in Cleveland:
“Right now, multiple sources have said, the Cavs are still working hard to assemble three-team trades. They have been in direct talks with the Phoenix Suns about Stoudemire, the Indiana Pacers about Troy Murphy and the Washington Wizards about Jamison.
“But they also are involving the Houston Rockets, Utah Jazz and Philadelphia 76ers in trying to set things up. In recent weeks the Cavs have also had expanded talks with the Chicago Bulls about making them a partner. If that seems like a wide net, it is supposed to be.
“There’s often such expansive talks at this time as teams attempt to satisfy numerous needs with bigger deals. Usually, though, if anything gets done it is just between two teams. General Manager Danny Ferry did pull off a three-team deal at the deadline two years ago, however.”
That’s it, for now.
Thought there was also this, though from the Miami Herald, and — despite frequent links connecting Jazz power forward/Miami resident Carlos Boozer and his penchant to play for the Heat — there curiously is no mention of Utah among a long list of possible trade partners:
“The Heat has had trade discussions with Phoenix, Memphis, Houston, Portland, Charlotte, Sacramento and Boston, league sources said. … If Michael Beasley is not in play, any major trade essentially would have to involve the expiring deals of center Jermaine O’Neal ($23 million), forward Udonis Haslem ($7 million) or swingman Quentin Richardson ($8.7 million).”

Quick update: Jazz general manager Kevin O’Connor had no comment today on the Cleveland report about supposed talks involving the Jazz and a possible three-team deal, and ESPN.com is reporting that while Phoenix mulls the much-discussed deal with the Cavs other teams are sweetening their own offers for Stoudemire.
