Jazz trade talk
DALLAS — As of very early Sunday morning (can’t sleep), here’s an update on Jazz trade-talk rumors being heard during NBA All-Star Game Weekend here in Dallas and in advance of the league’s Thursday’s deadline for dealing:
ZZZZZZZZZZZ ZZZZZZZZZZZ ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ ZZZZZZZZ ZZZZZZZZZ ZZZZZZZZZZ ZZZZZZZZZ ZZZZZZZZZZ ZZZZZZZZZZ ZZZZZZZZZZ ZZZZZZZZZZ ZZZZZZZZZ ZZZZZZZZZZZ ZZZZZZZZZZ ZZZZZZZZZ ZZZZZZZZZZ ZZZZZZZZZZZZZ.
That’s right: Not much being heard out there.
Washington and Dallas did finalize a seven-player trade Saturday that sends Caron Butler, Brendan Haywood and ex-Jazz guard DeShawn Stevenson to to the Mavericks for Josh Howard, Drew Gooden, Quinton Ross, James Singleton and cash.
And there are reports about Cleveland talking with Phoenix about a possible trade that would send All-Star Amare Stoudemire to the Cavaliers for Zydrunas Ilgauskas and J.J. Hickson, with ESPN.com reporting early today that the two teams are “closing in on a deal” even though the Cavs remain “in talks with several other teams” including Washington (about Antawn Jamison) and Golden State (with the Warriors pushing Corey Magette for Ilgauskas).
But that’s about the most of it, with nada being heard as of the moment on the Jazz front — for now, and at least the next few hours (trying to go back to sleep).
