Sloan incident 'under review'

Jazz coach Jerry Sloan told reporters that he put his forearm in referee Michael Smith’s chest Friday night as self-defense. (Click here for Tim Buckley’s article from Phoenix.)

Whether or not that contact will result in a fine and/or suspension for the Jazz coach remains to be seen. And the incident is now “under review,” an NBA spokesman confirmed this afternoon.

It’s unknown whether the league will make a decision on that before tonight’s Jazz game against the New Orleans Hornets at EnergySolutions Arena.

Sloan has previously been suspended twice for making contact with officials, including a seven-game punishment in 2003.
