The price of perfection
Ah, the price of perfection.
In Utah, it comes with a cost. Or so suggest two from the Jazz after they opened their 2010-11 NBA regular season with a 22-point loss Wednesday night in Denver and a 16-point loss to Phoenix on Thursday night.
“I think the worst thing that could have happened,” swingman C.J. Miles said, “was going 8-0 (in the preseason).”
Jazz point guard Deron Williams readily concurs.
“That’s what I kept saying,” he said. “Everybody kept saying, ‘You guys are looking good.’ I’m like, ‘It’s preseason; half the teams don’t play their best players.’
“So now, you come out and guys are defending you. We’re not getting any of those same shots, because we’re not screening and we’re not in the right place, we’re not running through hard — you know, things that are going to open the game up for us.”
Who — besides coaches, of course — ever said exhibition games matter anyway?
