Memo vs. D-Will
Until the NBA lockout ends, two old Utah Jazz buddies are spending their off time hooping it up in Turkey.
On Friday, their undefeated teams finally clashed in Ankara Arena.
Sorry, supporters of Mehmet Okur and Turk Telekom Ankara, Deron Williams and Beskitas came out on top 97-88.
The Eurobasket.com report described D-Will’s performance as “a superb effort.” Williams scored 23 points and dished out eight assists in the win. Nevada’s Marcelus Kemp topped Beskitas with 25 points.
Okur continues to show he’s improved since missing most of last season due to an Achilles tendon surgery and back issues. Okur turned in an 18-point, 13-rebound double-double.
“It was a good opportunity for two old team mates and the game was a friendly contest,” according to the Eurobasket.com report. “Besiktas fans didn’t leave his team in Ankara, supported as always in great way. They are well prepared for the derby next game against Fenerbahce Ulker Istanbul.”
It’s anyone’s guess when Williams’ Nets and Okur’s Jazz teams will clash in the U.S.
