AK tearing it up

The NBA has done nothing but frustrate locked-out fans this month.

But Andrei Kirilenko* is giving his Russian fans something cheer about with his play.

Kirilenko was just named the Euroleague Basketball bwin MVP for October after leading his Moscow-based team, CSKA, to a couple of big wins.

According to Euroleague.net, the former Jazz forward also tops the league in its performance index rating average of (30), in rebounding (9.5 boards per game) and in blocked shots (2.5 bpg).

The versatile 30-year-old is fifth in the league in assists, with 5.5 dishes per outing. He has also hit two-thirds of his 3-point attempts.

“One man who has everything to do with CSKA’s early-season resurgence is power forward Andrei Kirilenko,” proclaimed the author of an article on Euroleague.net.
