What started on July 1 — and has caused frustration and a loss of more than a month’s worth of NBA games — reportedly is about to come to a conclusion.
Multiple national reports out of New York City claim the NBA owners and players have reached a “tentative agreement” on a new collective bargaining agreement.
Go grab your Jazz pom-pons. The NBA lockout is about to end.
CBS’ Ken Berger was the first to report the news at about 1:15 a.m. Saturday — a deal that happened after a marathon meeting between the NBA and NBPA.
Though an official announcement has yet to be made, the NBA is expected to announce a condensed 66-game schedule beginning on Dec. 25.
Multiple things have to fall into place for that to happen, though.
The players have to become a union again after disclaiming interest and disbanding. The 400-plus players also have to vote to ratify the new deal, which still has minor issues to work out, according to multiple national writers.
