Welcome to camp – five days later

NBA hopeful Paul Carter finally got to join Jazz practice this morning. He had been waiting in Utah since Friday to receive clearance from FIBA, basketball’s international governing body.
“Man, I’m glad I get to practice today,” the versatile forward said. “Sitting around and not doing anything kinda sucks.”
Utah is still awaiting for the official thumbs up for Villanova point guard Scottie Reynolds.
Both played international hoops — Carter in Cyrus (the Greek Island); Reynolds in the Philippines — so FIBA needed to verify that they do not have ongoing contractual obligations that would prohibit them from playing in the NBA.
The 6-8, 203-pound forward played two college seasons at Minnesota before transferring to the University of Illinois-Chicago, where averaged about 15 points and eight boards last season.
The Jazz were impressed enough with him that they invited him to participate in two pre-draft workouts this past summer.
